Supporters of Liberty respond to D.H.S. Report.

By Comandante Mike Sanch

According to a new report released by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC), any supporter or individual that has ties to a third party candidate, or more specifically Congressman Ron Paul, are considered to be a potential enemy of the state. The report outlines that anyone with a bumper sticker related to libertarianism, the Gadsden flag, or in possession of liberty related material, (such as Libre! ) may be a member or potential member of a paramilitary group.

The report was financed by taxpayers and produced by government bureaucrats who are currently hard at work collecting data about political organizations and individuals within the homeland.

The MIAC is a relatively new addition to the police force that helps maintain an intelligence gathering hierarchy. This hierarchy is structured in a way that functions through a pyramid scheme that includes your local police force at the bottom, and the Department of Homeland Security at the top.

In a recent press conference D.H.S. Secretary, Janet Nopolitano, stated, “”That’s why we started this…. Now we know that it’s not just the 9/11-type incidents but many, many other types of incidents that we can benefit from having fusion centers that share information and product and analysis upwards and horizontally.”

The Patriot Act, which was passed in response to the 9/11 attacks, is where these agencies cite the origins of their authority, creation, and overextended jurisdiction. The unconstitutional Department of Homeland Security oversees the operation of these intelligence gathering agencies.

The offices of the network of these agencies have been dubbed “fusion centers”, and are scattered across the American landscape. According to the Department of Homeland Security’s website, there are 58 of these fusion centers with a budget totaling over $254 million dollars from 2004-2007.

The agencies hold the facet that they are in place to help gauge potential domestic terrorist threats. However, with this new report, it seems the D.H.S. has become the tool of the political establishment which is using the people’s resources to maintain the monopoly of power the current powers that be hold.

The fusion centers issue reports regularly by publishing and forwarding their findings to local police units to study and be aware of. Self described civil liberty supporters within the blogosphere have expressed the danger of such an infrastructure being used to stifle certain political leanings or ideas.

The surfacing of this report is igniting the web. The followers or supporters of Congressman’s Ron Paul’s ideas and philosophy are displaying their dissatisfaction with the report by blogging and forming groups.

Since the Gadsden Flag was included in the report as a potential marker of someone who might be willing to join a paramilitary organization, and a substantial number of supporters of liberty use the internet and networking sites exclusively and efficiently; the word is quickly spreading about a campaign titled “Gadsden Flag Week”, in which unapologetic supporters of liberty who were disgusted by the report are dedicating their “profile picture” on facebook to an image of the infamous Gadsden Flag of the American Revolutionary War. This is themed as a direct response and an example of defiance to the report.

Any user of facebook is undoubtedly recognizing the famous and mystical flag depicting a snake with the slogan, “Don’t Tread on Me” amongst their friend’s profiles.

Here are some excerpts from the report entitled “The Modern Militia Movement”:

“Due to the current economical and political situation, a lush environment for militia activity has been created”

“Unemployment rates are high, as well as costs of living expenses. Additionally, President Elect Barrack [sic] Obama is seen as tight on gun control and many extremists fear that he will enact gun restrictions”

“Militia members most commonly associate with 3rd party political groups,”

“It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty or Libertarian material.”

Here at Libre, we consider our support for Liberty as a badge of honor. Join the Media Revolution, join LIBRE!
